“I’ll meet you on the roof.” Rick told his friend as he entered the bathroom to care for his hand.
“Alright, don’t take too long.” Keegan replied.
The flat, empty roof greeted him with a strong, chilly breeze. “Whoof, I almost need a jacket. Heh, good thing I don’t have a hat, it’d be in the next county by now…” He noted. “Now, which way is… Woah, that’s quite the mess!” Indeed it was, and he didn’t even need the binoculars to see it. There was a large truck that had tipped over and broken open while making a turn. Boxes were strewn everywhere, and many of them had lost their contents as well. Several people in what looked like hazmat suits were going through the wreckage. “What is all that stuff? Dang, I should have asked Rick for the binoculars…”
Keegan returned to the door and called down the stairs. “Rick? Are you coming?” He waited a few seconds then, hearing no response, he returned to the edge of the roof. “They really have the place locked down… Oh come on Rick, hurry up! I’m getting really curious!” He paced back and forth for a bit before returning once again to the edge. “What is that thing right in the middle of the intersection that they’re all fussing over?” He squinted and leaned over the railing to get a better look. “Hold on, is that my bike?!?”
Basically, our worst fears have been realized. When heading through [REDACTED], one of our shipping vehicles containing some equipment and an experiment or two was involved in an accident. We are still trying to piece together what happened, but the driver is unconscious and his dash cam is damaged so we don’t have much to go on. There are the remains of a bicycle in the wreckage, and we have been unable to identify who it belonged to or how it ended up in the center of the road with no driver. We are establishing a quarantine covering a few blocks due to the classified nature of several of the items that are still being cleaned from the site.
Well, this is the part where I’ve mostly caught up with my writing. I have Part 6 almost ready, but not finished and nothing past it yet. Anyway, enjoy. Or don’t. I’m not the boss of you.
